2026 PH National Climbing Championships Lead Wrap-Up: Chompers at Climb Central Manila
Share
The Lead round of the 2026 PH National Climbing Championships, hosted by Pilipinas Climbing at Climb Central Manila on 27–28 June 2026, brought together athletes, setters, organisers, spectators, and the wider Philippine climbing community.
Chompers Climbing was proud to support the event as a sponsor through cash prize support and event marketing presence.
Event Highlights
The Lead round was an important moment for competition climbing in the Philippines. Lead climbing tests endurance, movement efficiency, route reading, clipping strategy, and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
Why the Lead Round Mattered
Lead competitions play an important role in the development of climbing because they require a different set of skills from bouldering. Athletes need to manage route length, clipping positions, pump, pacing, and technical decisions across a complete route.
For the Philippine climbing community, the Lead round helped showcase the depth of national-level climbing and the role that strong venues play in supporting athlete development.
For gym owners and future operators, the event was also a useful reminder that lead climbing requires thoughtful facility planning. Wall height, rope systems, belay areas, safety zones, circulation, viewing space, and route setting access all affect the final gym experience.
Chompers’ Role at the Event
Chompers supported the Lead round as a sponsor by contributing cash prize support. Our marketing presence included banners, flyers, QR codes, and event materials.
The event created an opportunity for us to connect and engage with gym owners, route setters, wall builders, and people interested in commercial climbing projects in the Philippines and across Asia.
These conversations matter because commercial climbing gyms require many connected decisions: wall design, matting, flooring, hold selection, route setting access, training areas, circulation, operations, maintenance, and budget.
Takeaways for Lead Walls and Commercial Gyms
The Lead round showed why rope climbing facilities need to be planned carefully from the beginning. A lead wall is not just about height. It needs the right wall profile, belay layout, safety systems, route density, and customer flow.
For a commercial gym, lead walls can support classes, youth programs, advanced training, competitions, and longer technical climbing. When combined with bouldering, training boards, holds, volumes, and good facility design, they can form part of a complete climbing business.
Chompers supports commercial climbing projects across Asia and Oceania, including climbing wall projects, freestanding adjustable climbing walls, fibreglass macro holds, wooden volumes, climbing wall panels, and gym matting.
