What is the typical lifespan of a climbing hold?

Our fibreglass macros are designed to last around 10 years structurally, with texture performance typically lasting around 5 years depending on usage.

The structural lifespan comes from the layered fibreglass construction and use of pure resin without fillers. This creates a durable shell that resists cracking, delamination, and long-term fatigue under commercial use.

Texture wear is the more variable factor. In high-traffic gyms, surface texture will gradually polish over time, which can affect grip. This is expected across all climbing holds, not just fibreglass.

We’ve developed our proprietary texture blend to balance durability and performance, but like any surface finish, it will eventually wear with heavy use.

Most holds remain structurally sound long after texture performance begins to change, which is why replacement cycles are often driven by feel rather than failure.
