What materials are used in the frame and panels of the freestanding climbing wall?

We build our freestanding climbing walls using a structural steel frame paired with 18mm commercial-grade birch plywood panels.

The steel frame forms the backbone of the climbing wall, providing the strength required to handle dynamic loads and repeated use over time. This is what allows the wall to remain freestanding while still performing like a fixed commercial installation.

For the climbing surface, we use 18mm birch plywood. The same standard used in commercial climbing gyms. This gives you a durable, consistent surface that holds up under heavy traffic and repeated resetting.

The panels themselves are modular and replaceable, so if you ever need to swap out sections or reconfigure your wall, you can do so without rebuilding the entire system.

We use this combination of materials for one reason: reliability. You’re getting materials already proven in commercial environments, not scaled-down or compromised.
